CrossFit Level 1
I have always been athletic – I grew up playing competitive soccer, but had to find another source of fitness after college. I’ve always enjoyed following a program and working out with others for accountability, and am the friend in the group who will always find something active for us to do! If I’m not at Mammoth, I’m most likely hiking in the mountains, or visiting local businesses with my Therapy Dog, Alamo!
I was a traditional weightlifter throughout and after college, but always enjoyed doing random WODs with friends. I love learning new skills and being challenged, so CrossFit was a natural progression. I walked into my first CrossFit gym in San Antonio, TX in May 2020, shortly after the pandemic began and my primary gym closed (feeling just as intimidated as most new athletes). I competed in my first local competition in September 2020 (where I forced myself to learn double-unders), and was hooked. I continued CrossFit throughout various military moves, and when I arrived in Clovis in July 2023, I was inspired by coaches to take the L1 course to increase my knowledge as an athlete and to pursue coaching.
Longevity is my purpose! My husband and I are both extremely active and like to do hard things. I CrossFit to bring out the best in myself, to prepare myself mentally and physically for our future children, and to be a source of exercise knowledge for my parents as they grow older (you’ll probably see my mom drop into a class or two – she’s a great sport!).
