Growing up I enjoyed trying new things and was blessed to be in a family that enjoyed ‘adventures’ as my Dad would call them. Wether it be biking, hiking, snowboarding or organized sports such as gymnastics, dance, or field hockey I always enjoyed trying new things. Later in life I grew an appreciation for running long distances outside while training for a half marathon. However, the sport I have been the most consistent with over the longest period of time has been CrossFit. I have been lucky to have some great coaches these past 6 years to look up to and to pattern my coaching skills after.
As a women I have struggled with body image issues most of my life. I remember doing gymnastics at a young age and seeing the growth in my muscles from all the strength and conditioning drills and having negative thoughts that I was getting too big. Later in life I thought the only thing I needed to do to stay healthy was cardio because weightlifting would make me too bulky. I had it all wrong. Once I discovered CrossFit I finally came to the realization that strong is beautiful. Being able to put weight on a barbell felt so exciting, and regaining the strength to do pull ups once again was so rewarding. I wish I could go back in time to my young naive self and tell her, ‘look at those beautiful muscles and look at what they are capable of!’
My purpose for coaching is to help others get over insecurities and doubts I myself once had. The human body is amazing and can do amazing things if treated correctly. I would love to help others become the best version of themselves they can possibly be.
