About Coach

It seems surreal that I am writing a bio introducing myself as a CF-L1 trainer. Even just a couple of years ago it would have seemed crazy. Yet, here I am living my best life and helping other people to live theirs. My true joy in life comes from being Mat’s wife and a mother to my 3 amazing children. They are the “why” behind everything I do in my life.

Turning Point

I stayed very active in my teens and early 20’s, competing in rodeo and having an energetic job as a vet tech at a large animal clinic. When I got pregnant with my first child at 23 I was in nursing school and changed to a desk job. I no longer moved like I used to, and my poor eating habits caught up to me. Between my bad habits and 2 more pregnancies I found myself between overweight and morbidly obese for the next 14 years. I was pre-diabetic, poorly handling my depression, getting back in bed when the kids went to school and needing an afternoon nap. Throughout my nursing career up to this point I had cared for younger, mostly healthy populations, but now I was seeing older adults and geriatric patients. I saw first-hand what diabetes and a sedentary lifestyle looks like as you age, I knew I didn’t want that in my future. Even though I had started and “failed” countless diets in the past I knew I needed to try again. I stopped breaking promises to myself and if I did have a “bad” diet day I would start again the next day instead of letting it derail me for a week, a month or even a year. I made my workouts non-negotiable. Over the next 2 years I lost 120 pounds. I was no longer pre-diabetic, my labs were all perfect. My depression was under much better control, I had energy throughout the whole day. After a couple of years I started getting bored with my home workouts and had outgrown my small home gym. I found CrossFit at this point and quickly became obsessed; I love the community, the functionality of the movements and how strong I feel. My husband and kids have seen the joy CrossFit brings me and have started joining me at the gym. Having a fun and healthy way to spend time together makes this momma’s heart so happy!!

Motivation & Passion

My motivation for coaching is to help people live their most fulfilled and healthy life. I want longevity for myself and for those around me. I want to spread the knowledge that CrossFit is for everyone, no matter their shape, size or age!! You don’t have to wait until you reach a certain weight or level of fitness to start, just start!! As a mother I know I put off working on my own health thinking it was taking time away from my family, but I know better now!! I know that when I’m eating more nutritious foods and moving my body daily I show up as a much better version of the wife and mom my family needs me to be.
